About two years ago, I received the following note:

Maria-Lydia Spinelli, college teacher wrote: "Dear Adrien: The silk mask has helped immensely against dust when vacuuming or when the mold count is high or when it's damp or cold. The effect of wearing the mask is literally instantaneous. I stop coughing--nose stops running and so does post nasal drip.... Good luck and good breathing-- Thanks." On the phone she added: "I wear the mask in odd places and forget I have it on. When I talk, people get used to it and don't ask about it."

Last month, Maria-Lydia wrote:  Dear Adrien

I visited your site and I would be happy to tell about my improvement.

My case is perhaps not as severe as that of other people's.  I had a history of asthmatic bronchitis from childhood from which I recovered completely by age 12.  I consulted an allergist and was treated to reverse some of the old damage as well as my overall health and my comfort.  The thrust was to strengthen my body against allergens, in my case, primarily molds and trees.  Standard treatment of shots, along with various inhalers for the sinuses, Asthmacort for the intermediate tubes and Maxihaler   for the lungs.  Also went on regular medication Claritin or Zyrtec, used an air cleaner, the air conditioner on low throughout the summer and the mask at any sign of discomfort.  I do not dust or have any plants and try to stay away form lint as much as I can.  I have an air cleaner in the car.  I also left a job which was stressful and where the air was not as good. I have not exercised as much as I should.   I could say I am on a maintenance program at this point and I am sure it   would get worse if I did not take my medication. I have discontinued the shots.   It did take some time but the mask, the inhalers and the medication provided a needed relief that is paying off. I like birding and I can go off into the woods without returning with a headache and can climb stairs in the summer without being out of breath. I can sometimes ride in the car with the windows open and I am no longer afraid of outdoor activities.  I do not seem to be as sensitive to everything any longer.  It seems that at one point the body begins to react systemically and appropriate relief gives it the opportunity to recover and react more normally.

Good luck and good breathing! Cheers.  Maria-Lydia Spinelli
